Thursday, August 10th 1939.
Throughout the United Kingdom a test was
carried out of the Civil Defence services and the effectiveness of the
blackout. Considering the number of
windows in Eton College and the domestic lighting facilities in the village,
the ARP wardens reported a very satisfactory result.
