I was at Eton Porny School during the 1950s, when Mr Ernest Harding was Headmaster (also the organist at Eton Parish Church). I sat next to a girl called Wendy Judd, whose parents I thought ran the stationery shop opposite Barnes Bridge. They provided supplies to Eton College, I think.

I don't remember the tea party, but I do remember that all the children were given a Coronation mug. I'm pretty sure I was sent to get mine from Mr Chantler at the Post Office, near Eton Wick School. I also remember very well when The Duke of Edinburgh came to open The New Rec in Stockdales Road and a special plaque was put in the wall by the entrance. I got a place near the front.

Hi how do I purchase the book, Photographic Eton Wick and Eton? I am trying to uncover as much information in regards to the Cockpit in Eton as there is a reference to a previous owner in there. I have recently completed the purchase of the building. I am trying to establish the actual true age of it as well as it appears it is much older than first thought. I am currently having dendrochronology and isotopic dendrochronology undertaken.

C.W. Hammerton enlisted with the Queen Victoria Rifles in September 1915 as Rifleman #5335, being assigned to its 3rd (Reserve) Battalion for training in England. He was transferred with a reinforcement draft to the Regiment's 1st Battalion on the Western Front around March 1916, and served with it until his death in action on the Somme.

My Dad was the Driver with John Wallis Dry-cleaners (later he had his own Dry-cleaning business) and I often caught the Blue Bus to meet him on his round on Tues/Thursdays after school in Windsor. So not only travelled on that service but also knocked on just about every house in Eton Wick/ Dorney/Dorney Reach when I was young. Happy Memories now sadly everything has changed including the road over Windsor & Eton Bridge...

This brings back happy memories. I was born in Slough 1941. My mother was staying with her sister, who lived in Dorney Reach. As I grew up, we visited my aunt regularly, during the 1940's. Living in Kent, we caught the train to Windsor Station, then the Blue bus to Dorney Reach. I remember waiting in Windsor for ages, as they didn't run very frequently. Im sure the driver was Gerry, everybody new everybody.

There may have been any number of tailors in Eton Wick around that time, but it appear only one with a retail presence. Tom Brown Tailors have traded in Eton since 1784. First from Keats Lane and the 1841 census records that the business had moved to No. 1 High Street. It expanded into No. 2 High Street in 1890. Martin

I attended from 1963 to 1969 and it is great to be reminded of events and people some of whom I remember. I often wonder where everyone is now. I was on the Holland trip shown in the picture and am pictured front row kneeling, furthest to the right.

Hi to everyone. I attended Eton Wick School from 1963 - 1967. I was supposed to take part in the Holland trip in 1967, but my family was emigrating to Canada and because we weren't sure of the date we were leaving, I had to back out. I remember Mr. Moss and I have pictures from some school functions and of the swimming pool. I think I have a picture of the swim meet when they were doing renovations to the school and pool area and one of the workers was a "log roller" and gave us a display of how to log roll. I also have a picture of the Brownie Group I was part of. I haven't been back to England since 1972, so it's nice to see comments here about how things were and how they are now.
